Internships, gig experiences, apprenticeships, co-ops for students

Franklin University is committed to providing high-quality educational experiences for students. Adult learners often learn best in the context of doing. The university has opportunities within the curriculum for doing career-connected activities. Some of these are paid, and some are unpaid, but the value of them toward your learning and the eventual job cannot be overstated. Follow our bi-weekly newsletter for opportunities, experiences and other activities to consider as you complete your degree. MyCareer and the Center for Career Development
You can find more opportunities through your access to MyCareer and the Center for Career Development. They can also help polish your resume and give advice on looking for these opportunities. 

Internship Opportunities (internships@mikeshiner.com) 

If approved, you will work up to 20 hours per week in an organization, either in-person or virtually. The credit for the course depends on the hours worked and the approval of your Program Chair. These are typically unpaid opportunities but can be paid in certain circumstances.

Gig Experiences 
Very similar to the internship but is shorter and more project-based. These can be completed virtually if approved by the organization.

Must be paid and are aligned with courses. B.S. in Cybersecurity is the only approved current apprenticeship. For more information, click here.

Case Study: A cybersecurity student was recently placed with Creek Technologies. He is working on his degree in cybersecurity while working for the company as a federal government contractor. He is taking several needed certification courses while he is completing his security clearance background investigation sponsored by Creek Technologies. When he finishes, he will have the required cyber certifications, his B.S. in Cybersecurity, a security clearance, and valuable experience (U.S. Department of Labor Apprenticeship Credential).
